Greeting fans and friends of Crusadecraft.
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that the Crusadecraft project will not continue.
So far, Crusadecraft has been an amazing project which has been in development for nearly two years. In this time we've come to achieve a multitude of great feats, as a server and as a community. We began to establish what could have become a new standard for quality roleplay servers and we’ve brought together a diverse community of dedicated and enthusiastic people. Which pains us all the more to bring you this disappointing news
Along the way, we’ve also encountered many obstacles. Many of which we were able to overcome, but one such obstacle in particular has presented us with such a development deadlock that we were forced discontinue the project altogether.
Our project finally suffered its killing blow after our long struggle to find a dedicated, capable coder who could translate our vision of the Crusadecraft experience to reality. Over the past few months we have worked with around 7-8 different coders and have had to come to terms with their incompatibility with our project. Finally we were working with two very capable coders in a row, with whom we managed to achieve significant progress. This lead us to believe that we could announce a release date and be confident of our ability to deliver a finished server. However, (presumably) due to events in each of these people’s personal lives they broke contact with us and left us with no ability to release our within our timeframe.
Some of you would, of course, suggest to postpone our server’s release once more, or to release the server in an unfinished state and to work out our plugin-related issues in due time. There are several reasons why this is not possible:
- Firstly, releasing a server is also a commitment to intensively maintain it for some time after release. Speaking from experience, we concluded that under the current circumstances we would not be able to realistically achieve this.
- Postponing the release is something we could not do for a fifth time without causing irreparable damage to the credibility of the server as a whole.
- Upcoming events in my life and that of my co-admin Knarfer do not allow us to continue working on the server with the same amount of time and passion that we currently have to try and make the server come to life. Both of us aim to attend university soon, which means we won’t be able to work on Crusadecraft.
Finally we’d once again like to thank everyone who contributed to this project in whatever way they could. Hopefully many of you in the community stick around through this. We have plans for the near future to repurpose our community chat, perhaps into a gaming or discussion group. We are open to suggestions in regards to this.
